Instructor: Gisela Vichot
Level: Middle School (6th-8th)
Gisela Vichot has been a teacher for over 25 years and currently teaches high school mathematics at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami, Florida. She has taught Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Precalculus and Calculus. She holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics Education from Texas A&M, Kingsville and a Masters in Mathematics Education from Nova Southeastern University. While in Texas, she also coached students for University Interscholastic League competitions and in Florida has also been a Mu Alpha Theta sponsor. She is passionate and enthusiastic while presenting new concepts to students and always tries to make the learning interesting, fun, and relevant, while showing students the beauty in mathematics.
This Spring, the Math+ program will be focused on the concept of Infinity. Infinity can be defined as “something without any limit”. The concept has applications across disciplines but is particularly critical in mathematics where the concept has been at the center of the field since 1655 when John Wallis, a leading mathematician, defined its mathematical symbol.
NOTE: The course will be hosted via Zoom and will be held on the dates and times below in Eastern Time. As the course is virtual, students do not have to be based in Miami to enroll.
